North End Demonstration Kitchen

Friday and Saturday will be hosted by television presenter Andy Jaye, who you may well recognise from Ministry of Mayhem on CITV! Andy will be presenting 20 minute shows featuring cook-offs, cooking and equipment demonstrations and giveaways.

Saturday 11 September

Cake and fudge specialist, The Very English Baker, will be creating their incredibly delicious Anglo-American recipes in front of your very eyes. Who knows, you might even get a free taste!

13:40-13:55     The Tartlets
The Tartlets are passionate about baking and try to source all their produce locally. Watch and learn how to produce good healthy food that doesn’t cost a fortune.

14:30-14:45     The Surrey Bee Keepers
Isn’t it funny how a bee makes honey? Well come down and see how they do it! The Surrey Bee Keepers will be bringing their working hive down to Surrey Street to give you a glimpse into its inner workings and the life of the honey bee.

15:15-15:45     Special guest to be confirmed

Plus, Saturday sees the grand opening of a brand new Surrey Street stall - Grillicious, specialising in flamed, grilled dishes, including fish, burgers and jerk chicken.

Whitgift Taste Trail
Whitgift restaurants & cafes will be offering the chance to taste their food for free. Pick up your entry form from the promotional stand in Whitgift Square and visit the outlets on the Taste Trail card. Collect a stamp from each outlet to be in with a chance of winning a £200 Whitgift card!

40 Taste Test Challenge
Celebrate 40 years of the Whitgift Centre by taking part in their 40 Taste Test Challenge! Visit the promotional stand in Whitgift Square to test your taste buds. Choose from 40 mystery products and then take the tasting challenge, blindfolded! Shoppers who guess correctly will be entered into a free prize draw to win a luxury hamper!

Live Food Sculptures
Artist Sophie Hanna has been commissioned by Centrale to produce a number of food themed installations live over the weekend. Sophie will also be running a workshop showing you how to create your very own table top decorations using chillies!
